William L Allen, Jr, a 37-year resident of Olympia, died of heart failure November 26, 1998, at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia, Washington. He was born December 25, 1924, in Portland, Oregon, to William and Catherine (Grant) Allen.

He graduated from Grant High School in Portland. He attended Multnomah College in Portland for two years, the University of Alaska for one year and Olympic College in Bremerton for two years.

Bill married Barbara (Shouse) Thomas on March 9, 1968, in Olympia, Washington. He was in the Marines from 1943-1945 in the Pacific Theater.

Bill was a highway engineer for the Federal Highway Administration for over 30 years. He was a member of the Olympia Elks, Capital City Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Afifi Shrine. He also was a past president and board member of the Olympia YMCA and NRA.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Allen; three sons; four step-sons; two sisters; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
