Mrs. Janice Ahlstrom, 76, died yesterday at Lake County Memorial Hospital East in Painesville after a lengthy illness. She was a daughter of the late Frank L. and Kittie Reynolds Mather.
Active in the Lake County Historical Society for more than 50 years, she had been president, vice president, secretary and a trustee.
She was long-time editor of The Quarterly for the society and authored several articles on antique dolls, valentines, handicrafts and local history.
She frequently lectured about her collections and belonged to the International Platform Association and the Doll Collectors of America.
She had received awards for long-time service to the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Lake County Heart Association, Lake County Tuberculosis and Health Association and Girl Scouts of America.
She was regent of the Painesville Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and received a national award for 50 years of service. She was circulation manager for Ohio's DAR News for 10 years.
Mrs. Ahlstrom also belonged to the Ohioana Library Association, Burrough's Nature Club, Willoughby Women's Club, Lake County Garden Club and Mentor United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William M., and sons, Robert and Richard, and five grandchildren.
