Garland L. Anderson, 85, of Ranson, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at his residence.

Born February 4, 1929, Paw Paw, he was the son of the late Joshua P. Anderson and Dorotha Whitacre Anderson.

He was of Methodist faith.

He attended Paw Paw School and graduated Cathermans Business School.

He retired from CSX Railroad as Station Agent. He formerly owned Sycamore Inn, Largent. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 948, Charles Town, member and past commander of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71, Charles Town and member and past commander of VFW Memorial Post 3522, Charles Town.

He volunteered for 20 plus years at the Senior Center.

He is survived by companion of 27 years, Carol Kisamore, Ranson; one daughter, Jennifer Anderson; one brother, Kenneth Anderson, Paw Paw and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Nelson and Doris Toney and three brothers, Charles Anderson, Lynwood Anderson and Roland Anderson.

Friends will be received at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 16, 11 a.m. at Mt. Union Cemetery, Slanesville.
