Sherman Adkins, 85, of the Huntsville Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Capital Hill, passed away on Friday evening, October 8, 1993, at Scott County Hospital in Oneida. He was the son of the late Phillip Adkins and the late Mary Ann Trammell Adkins and was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Lawson Adkins; two sons, Dennis and Glad Adkins; three sisters; six brothers; and one son-in-law, John Woodward. Mr. Adkins was a retired carpenter and was a member of the Annadell Baptist Church. He is survived by six daughters, Florence Woodward of Huntsville, Iva Lee Fraley and husband Forrest of Cincinnati, O., Bertie Mae Phillips and husband Eunice of Jefferson City, Wilma Martin and Joan Ealy and husband Anthony of Norwood, O. and Barbara Jean Jones of Jefferson City; three sons, Paul David Adkins and wife Cathi of Jefferson City, Dwain T. Adkins and wife Ida of Norwood, O., and Phillip Adkins and wife Juanita of Pioneer; 27 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special friend, Mike Carson and staff of the Huntsville Manor Nursing Home; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday at the West-Murley Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Ray Howard officiating. Nancy Murley sang. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Cook Cemetery in the Winona Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Greg Woodward, Joe Adkins, Dennis Fraley, Claude Fraley, Michael Carroll, and Steve Woodward. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida was in charge of arrangements
