Mrs. Lucita Austin Dies in Hospital

Mrs. Lucita K. Austin, 79, of 458 South Franklin Street, died yesterday afternoon at 4 at General Hospital where she had been a patient one week. She had been in ill health several years.
Born in Lampasos, Mexico, May 15, 1888, Mrs. Austin resided in Wilkes-Barre since 1898. Her husband, Charles M., assistant to the president of the Wyoming National Bank, died in 1943.
She was a member of Central Methodist Church, Women's Society of Christian Service, Good Cheer Sunday School Class and an active member of the Union Chapel of Lake Nuangola. Mrs. Austin was a charter member of the Irem Women's Auxiliary, past president of the auxiliary to Dieu La Vieut Commandery, Knights Templar 45, Wisemenettes and the auxiliary of the Salvation Army. She was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre High School.
Surviving are children, Charles M., Jr., at home; Mrs. William F. Hughes, Warren; Gilbert D., Easton; Robert K., Wilmington, Del.; brother, Carlos Krause, Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Monday morning at 11 with Rev. William W. Reid, pastor of Central Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Saturday night 7 to 9 and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
