Billy was the son of the late James Stuart and Lucile Rangeley Childress. Billy was also the brother of Virginia Lee David, Robert Rangeley Childress, James S. Childress, Jr., and Sally C. Condrey. Billy was a graduate of Christiansburg High School and attended Bridgewater College. Billy became a postal Carrier and was working in that Capacity when he was involved in an accident, sustaining injuries that would be permanent. Billy was an avid fan of the Christiansburg High School "Blue Demons" and the Virginia Tech "Hokies" Football and Basketball Programs. Billy also took great delight in being designated Virginia Tech's number one fan of basketball in March, 1981. Billy was known all over the Town of Christiansburg, as being freindly and for his famous and friendly wave to all. Funeral Services were held at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, at 11:00 A.M., on Thursday, September 22, 2005, with the Reverend Chuck McHose and Dr. David Goodpasture. Funeral arrangements were handled by Horne Funeral Service in Christiansburg, Virginia.
