Aunt Carrie was the best aunt in the world. She took care of me some when I was little, and was very kind to me. I use to comb her hair and have very fond memories of her. I grieved her loss deeply. She was a kind Methodist lady and I inherited her beautiful marquisite cross, which I cherish. I try to be a good aunt like she was, to my own nieces and nephews. I want to pass it on.

Carrie was the daughter of Emma Rainsford (which can be spelled Raynsford) and William Frederick Oates. Carrie had two brothers - one was Charles, who she lived with all her life and the other brother William who was killed while riding his bicycle by a train in 1945. She had a sister who was my Dad's mother named Lizzie Mae (Elizabeth, also known as Nana). She had a nephew, Maurice R. Hall who had three children, Christine, Richard and Sandy, a great niece, Emma Swanson and great niece and nephew Ted and Sondra Swanson. She was never married and had no children. She worked in a factory (cotton mill) in Danielson, Connecticut for many years.

♥We think you today
But that was nothing new;
We thought of you yesterday
and the day before that too.

We think of you in silence,
and each day we speak your name;
Now all we have is memories,
And your picture in a frame.

In life we loved you dearly;
In death we love you still.
In our hearts we hold a place;
No one else can fill.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
Part of you did not go alone;
For a part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
