Chico Enterprise-Record,Tuesday, July 14, 2009, pg 6B: "Ron E. Charter Alder. An informal garden service to remember Ron Alder will be held at 1772 Almond View Court in Durham on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.
Ron, birth name Ronald Everett Charter, was born September 22, 1946 in Berkeley, California to Everett and Doris Poulos Charter and died July 3, 2009 in Chico.
"Raised and educated in Berkeley, Ron came to Chico in 1966 to attend Chico State College (now CSU, Chico) where he obtained a B.S. degree in Biology.
Ron lived his adult life in Chico and in Paradise. He worked for many years in the transportation field, driving busses, vans and other transportation vehicles with a specialty in serving those with disabilities for the Work Training Center and other organizations.
"Ron was a gentle person, never hardened by the ways of the world. He was accepting of others, slow to pass judgment on their faults and willing to lend a hand whenever needed. Ron always had time to talk and to listen. He did not have an immediate family of his own but had a wide circle of long time friends in addition to his extended family. He loved the uncrowded, natural places in northern California, including the mountains and especially Lassen Volcanic National Park. He had sensitivity to nature, to humans, to animals.
"Ron is survived by a nephew, Mark Baysinger of San Diego; cousins including Margaret Beneke of Durham; and his many friends by whom he will be greatly missed.
"Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association in care of Newton-Bracewell Funeral Home. You may share your thoughts and memories of Ron online at nbcfh.com."
