John Anglus Ayers, age 90, of Zacks Fork Road, Lenoir, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Lenoir Health Care. He was born July 16, 1924 in Wilkes County to the late Corder and Hessie Hamby Ayers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Barlow Ayers; five brothers, Ted Spencer Ayers, Hobart Jay Ayers, Namon Corder Ayers, Fred Ayers and Ralph Ayers; and one sister, Thelma Ayers Adams.
Mr. Ayers was retired from Thomasville Furniture.
Survivors include two sons, John Duane Ayers and wife Jean of Lenoir and Joel Ray Ayers and wife Mary of Happy Valley; one daughter, Susan Ayers Teague of Lenoir; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Bryan Davis.
