Dr. Atkinson received his medial training at the Cincinatti Ohio Medical College, and I expect that's where he met his first wife, Gertrude Lloyd (1895-1950). While she was born in Tennessee, she's listed as living with a cousin in Cincinatti in the 1910 census.
After he became a physician, like his grandfather Dr. B. P. Funchess before him, he settled in Bentonville, Arkansas. An obituary detailing his medical career can be found at:

Dr. Atkinson first married Grace Lloyd (1895-1950) and after her death he married Violet McAllister (1909-1985). As far as I know there were no children born of either marriage, but he and Gertrude took in a foster daughter in the 1930s.
