This is our third brother. Jerry, an avid sportsman, was born in Dayton, Ohio, third child of John Robert Ward, Sr and Florence Margaret Drake. He attended Tennessee Military Institute and was a Golden Glove middle weight boxer while attending TMI. Shortly after leaving TMI, Jerry enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Alaska. Upon his discharge, he returned to Dayton and married Janet Marie Denny. This union produced three children; Robert Lee, JeriLynn and Tanya Marie.Jerry was employed at NCR and GM. He was Joe Bowler for the year 1968. During the 60's and 70's, Jerry managed Wilsman's Trucking and Jack Thomas slowpitch softball powerhouse teams. Jerry's teams won numerous Ohio ASA Open Division titles from 1963-1975. Jerry was named Manager of the Year l968. Jerry was also voted into Dayton Amateur Softball Hall of Fame, Ohio State Softball Hall of Fame, and Butler County Hall of Fame. He was also a devout, proud Born Again Christian and dearly loved the Lord. Jerry received a bachelors degree in Theology after retiring and moving to Florida.
May God guard you through each night and day, and ever watch above you . . . God smile on everything you do. God go with you . . . God love you!
