Susie A. Hyde was born 28 August 1866 to Samuel & Mary Ann (Durant) Brown at Stewartstown, Coos Co., New Hampshire. She married Mr. James D. Jeffers first at Colebrook, New Hampshire. They had 2 children; Harry J. Jeffers (1885-?) & Eva Lorend Jeffers (1887-1888). They divorced September 1892. She married 2nd, John Sydney Hyde 09 October 1892 in Saco, Maine or Lancaster, New Hampshire (there were marriage records in both places). John and Susie had 2 sons; Ariel P. Hyde & John A. Hyde. The couple lived in White River Jct. Vermont, New Hampshire, York Co., Maine and LaMesa, San Diego Co., California. Susie and her husband were on a trip from LaMesa, San Diego Co., California where they lived to Bridgeport, Maine to bury their son, Ariel's ashes when they had a serious auto accident on October 26, 1943. Susie was seriously injured with neck and head injuries. When she was stabilized enough she was transported to the State Hospital in Salem, Oregon where she remained until she died nearly 3 years later. Her husband John walked away from the accident uninjured, but died November 4th of apparent natural causes. Susie was brought to Oregon by her son John following the death of her husband. Susie died in a Salem Hospital and was buried in Eugene, Oregon 05 October 1946.
