God-fearing, Wife, Mother, Great Great-Grandmother, Daughter, Friend "Little Grandma" Golda was a wonderfully gifted person who loved to cook, garden, sew and spend time with her church friends.
Golda spent most of her adult life in Calwa, California and attended Calwa Church every Sunday without fail. She loved to bake pies and sometimes baked 5000 pies in one year. She would always donate the pies to her church and always brought a pie with her to family events. After her husband, George, passed away, she never remarried.
She focused her energy on her home and loved ones. Especially her grandchildren. She lived a long and meaningful life, spending countless hours teaching her grandchildren (me) the secrets of baking and gardening and being an all around good Christian. Golda loved roses and she definitely had a green thumb when it came to gardening.
Golda was my Great Grandma (by adoption) and when I first met her, I named her "Little Grandma" because she was so little. She spent many days and hours with me and without her, my childhood would not have been the same. She was strong, funny, thoughtful and entrepreneurial.
Golda was recycling in the 80s... well before it became common place. She was always aware of the impact she had on her surroundings. She was smart, sensitive, practical, loving and well ahead of her time. I think of her daily and am grateful to have had her in my life.
