Joseph Alexander Gallant Jr. died at home at 833 Lombard St., Wilmington Delaware of diptheria. Age 1 year 11 months and 18 days. Buried Brandywine Cemetery. Re-interred November 14, 1890 in Lombardy Cemetery. Undertaker was J. R. Kilmer.

His parents were Joseph Alexander Gallant and wife Catharine Mendenhall. Joseph was one of three children born to his parents. A brother Thomas Ross Gallant born 18 August 1871 who preferred to be called "Ross" instead of "Thomas" and some of his records are under Ross. A sister, Sara Mae Gallant born 4 August 1875. On 2 October 1903 Sara married John J. Golden. Their parents Joseph and Catharine (Mendenhall) Gallant, Joseph Alexander Gallant Jr. and sister Sara Mae (Gallant) Golden are all buried in this Gallant family plot. There is a John Cannon (grandson of Sara Mae (Gallant) Golden and great grandson of Joseph A. and Catharine (Mendenhall) Gallant) who died in 1934 and a Mary Long who died in 1961 buried in this family plot also.
