The Work Of Death.
Miss Charlotte Baer died yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Home for the Aged, this city, of general debility, aged 90 years. Miss Baer was born July 25, 1813, in this city, in the old house on East Patrick street, which was occupied by the Shellman and Baer families for a generation. She was the eldest daughter of the late Professor William and Harriet Mautz Baer, both natives of Frederick. In her childhood the family removed to Baltimore, and in after years they had a beautiful country home at Sykesville. In November, 1866, they moved to this city and purchased the Birely house on East Patrick street, which is now occupied by Mr. Henry Hahn. Here the four sisters conducted a select school for a period of eighteen years, during that time teaching about 330 children, amongst them the present bishop of Haukow, China. Rev. James Addison Ingle. Professor and Mrs. Baer died in that house, and about three years ago the family circle was again broken by the death of Miss Mary Baer. Subsequently Miss Baer and her two sisters, Misses Harriet and Willamina, who survive her, became inmates of the Home for the Aged.
The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock, with services at the Home for the Aged.
