John Richard Baer died at his home, 235 East Fourth street, yesterday terday morning at 1.20 o'clock of general debility, aged 78 years.
Mr. Baer was the city lamplighter many years ago, when gas lamps were in use. He held that position for a great number of years and was well known to the older generation of Fredericktonians. Mr. Baer was also a great fisherman.
He is survived by nine children - Mrs. Julia Bartholow, Baltimore; Mrs. Charles Clabaugh, Mrs. Mary Brengle, Mrs. Charles Houck, Mrs. John Fleischman, Mrs. Charles Graser, Miss Frances May Baer, Richard P. Baer and William E. Baer, all of Frederick, and one sister, Mrs. Chas. E. Wagoner, of Baltimore.
Mr. Baer was a member of Reynolds Post, G. A. R., and of the Junior Fire Company.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at nine o'clock at St. John's Roman Catholic church, under the direction of C. C. Carty.
