Published 25 November 1905, Saturday, in The Daily News, Frederick, Maryland:
Mr. John W. Baker, of near Park Mills, was stricken with apoplexy on Thursday afternoon about 2 o'clock, in front of the store of J. R. Leaman, at Park Mills. He was picked up and carried into the store in an unconscious condition, where he died at 3 o'clock, without regaining consciousness. Dr. T. O. Routson, of Buckeystown, was summoned, but Mr. Baker was beyond medical aid. He was 83 years of age and served through the Civil War. He is survived by a widow, who was Miss Sarah Jane Ridenour. Both were originally from the vicinity of Gettysburg. His funeral took place Friday, with interment at Koontz Chapel, Park Mills.
