CAMPBELL, Hugh Joseph - 83, Truro, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on December 26, 2007, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald Joseph Campbell; siblings, Danny Campbell, Mary (Campbell) Smith, Agnes (Campbell) Dixon, Jerry Campbell, Angus Campbell, Sarah Campbell and Peggy (Campbell) Woolaver. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Phyllis (Poirier) Campbell; daughter, Lynda Campbell (Larry); grandson, Pascal Moss, Vancouver Island, B.C.; daughter, Barbara Gottselig (Dave); granddaughters, Carly Tysick, Whistler, B.C.; daughter, Wendy Stonehouse (Joe); grandson, Joey Stonehouse (Shanda); great-granddaughter, Breanna Stonehouse, Truro; granddaughter, Jennifer Stonehouse (Peter), Truro; daughter, Jacqueline Pinkney (Dale); grandson, Michael Pinkney; granddaughters, Angel Pinkney and Suzie Pinkney, Truro; daughter, Beverly Moquin (Phil); grandson, Randy Moquin, Vancouver Island, B.C.; many nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Hugh was a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served overseas during the Second World War with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was a long-time employee of International Harvester (J.G. Parkers and Son's Ltd.). In his spare time and after his retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, making wooden clocks and was always one to keep busy. Keeping busy was never a problem with five girls and a 58 year marriage. His girls fondly recall and will miss his mischievous fun loving attitude and the unforgettable sparkle of his eyes. Family visitation in remembrance and celebration of his life will take place in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro on January 2, between 6-8 p.m. Funeral Liturgy (Mass) will take place in Immaculate Conception Parish, 669 Prince St., Truro at 10:30 a.m. on January 3. Spring interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to March of Dimes.
