Son of Albert and Elizabeth (Piehl) Binius.
On April 3, 1937, he married Leona L. Grob. Herman worked for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad for 41 years. During the seven years prior to his retirement (1971-1978) he was secretary-treasurer for the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees union. Herman spent many enjoyable years in retirement helping out with the miniature railroad at Little A-Merrick-A amusement park in Marshall. He was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison for more than 50 years. Herman is survived by his loving wife, Leona; daughter, Beverly (Martin) Smith of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; son, David (Shirley) Binius of Winona, Minn.; sister, Mildred (Charles) Vine of Fennimore; four granddaughters, Kathy (David) Rocha of Gilbert, Ariz., Lauri (Bruce) Droster of Dane, Tracy (Jack Bizot) Binius of Oak Park, Ill., and Lynda (John) Enright of St. Louis Park, Minn.; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Walter Binius; and two sisters, Augusta Bailey and Ruth Witzig.
