Genevieve M. Bennett, age 91, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Uplands Hills Facility in Dodgeville. Genevieve, born to George Ruppert and Elizabeth (Meuer) Ruppert on January 30, 1915, lived her early years in Union Mills and enjoyed many picnics, house parties and oyster suppers with her extended Ruppert and Meuer families. She graduated from Dodgeville High School and the Teacher's Training program, and taught for six years at Union Ridge and Knobs Schools. On June 2, 1941, she was united in marriage with Daniel L. Bennett and lived many years among the rolling hills of Spring Valley in the town of Clyde as a devoted housewife and mother. Together they raised seven children. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing euchre, listening to old-time music, dancing a waltz with Dan, going out to fish frys, and making delicious currant cookies and saffron bread. Gen was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Clyde. She was an active member in the St. Malachy's Altar Society, Latto Springs Homemakers and the Clyde Homemakers.
Gen is survived by six children, Brian (Karen) Bennett of Darlington and step grandchildren, Matt Wilson, Mark Wilson and Amy (Tyler) Kattre, James of Madison, Joan of Racine, Daniel (Mary Lynn) of Jackson and grandchildren, Thomas (Anna) Bennett, Erica, and Christine, Charlene of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and David (Mary) and grandchildren, Peter, Eileen and Mark of Grafton; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; a son, Thomas; her parents; her brothers, Gerald and Virgil; and a sister, Dorothy. Gen enjoyed her last five years at Crestridge Assisted Living Facility playing lively games of bingo and Jokerino.
