James Colburn Addison was a certifed public accountant and owned his own accounting firm. He served overseas during WWI from August 1918 to January 1919 as a 2nd Lt. FA in Battalion C, 337th Field Artillery. He had trained at Fort Snelling, Minn. Upon his discharge from the service, he returned to Story County where he and his wife, Lanore Wise, raised their family.

James C. Addison Dies At His Home In D. Moines Friday

James C. Addison, 69, of Des Moines, formerly a resident of Nevada died at his home Friday of a ruptured artery.

Addison was the son of of the late E. H. and Mary Addison. His father was a prominent Nevada attorney with the firm of Addison and Smedal.

He was a graduate of the Nevada High School and of the State University of Iowa law school. For thirty years he operated the James C. Addison and Co. accounting firm in Des Moines. He was a first lieutenant in World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Irene; two sons, James, Jr. of Miami, Fla. and William of Washington, D.C.; one grandson; two nephews, James and Addison Carter of California; a niece, Mrs. Ray (Mary Ellen Vinsel) Boeke of Ft. Belvoir, Va.

Funeral services for Addison will be held at 12 noon Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Ninth and High in Des Moines.

Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery, where graveside services will be conducted.

The family suggest memorial contributions to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
