William Hugo Carstens was the son of Hugo F. Carstens and Hannah M. Bell. He was married to Viola Mae Guy. Their children were Janette, Eunice and William.

OBITUARY; TIMES DEMOCRAT - DECEMBER 6, 1934 - PAGE 6 - COL. 2 DIED DECEMBER 5, 1934 - CARSTENS - Hugo William Carstens, 932 Ohio street, Davenport, died last night at 7:30 o'clock at his home after an extended illness. He was born on July 27, 1901, on a farm near Linwwod. He had lived in Davenport for ten years and was employed at Oakdale cemetery until his illness. On Feb 3, 1923, he was married to Viola Guy. She survives with one son, William Dale, and a daughter, Eunice. The mother, Mrs. Hannah Carstens, two brothers, Walter and Charles, and two sisters Mrs, Frank Langfeldt and Miss Cora May Carstens, all of Davenport, also survive. The body was taken to the Horrigan home for funerals where funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m.

My dad, (William's sister's son), Forrest Longwell, talked often about his Uncle Willie Carstens. Wish I could have met him.
