Birth: Jan. 31, 1875, Germany
Death: May, 1960
Hartford County
Connecticut, USA

An immigrant from Germany, he arrived on the Bremen in Ellis Island, looking for a new life. He arrived in Connecticut in 1903. He purchased the house that remained in the family on Hill Street where he worked as a farmer. He met his wife and my great grandmother in 1906 delivering milk to her home.

In 1908 they were married, and gave birth to their first child in 1910. They would later have 3 more children. Adela, Walter and Velma.

In 1920 his daughter Emma (10) died of blood poisioning. This crushed him, but he knew he had to continue on and be strong for his pregnant wife. Later in June that same year, Velma was born.

He was dealt another devistating blow when Velma contracted the vicious Polio virus in 1931. 1932, 12 days after Velma returned home, his wife Pauline died from a heart annurism. She was 47.

He lived and worked on the farm until he died in 1960, long enough to see his Youngest daughter marry and see her three children born. His son Walter marry and his child born.

He was extremely religious, he helped found the church on Meadow St. in Bristol, Immanuel Lutheran Church. That church would be the site where all four of his children were baptized and 3 of them confirmed. His three grandchildren baptized, confirmed and one married in, and all his great grandchildren baptized in.
