The funeral service for minister Robert Nelson Black of Paris will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member.
Jerry W. Massey and Larry Simmons will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
Chosen as pallbearers are Chuck Bullock, John, Timothy and Daniel Black and Rod and Ron Frey.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the men's Bible class at First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Black, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, at Henry County Medical Center.
His wife Sue Carter Frey Black survives. They were married on Nov. 21, 2005.
Born July 26, 1924, in Shalersville, Ohio, he was a son of Isaac Ray and Verda Pierce Black, now both deceased.
Black was married on Aug. 7, 1943, to the former Kathryn Harner, who died Oct. 21, 1993. He later was married on Nov. 5, 1994, to Mary Sue Worton Dyer, who died Feb. 16, 2000.
Black was a minister for 40 years. He was a Habitat for Humanity volunteer and according to a family member enjoyed woodworking.
He also leaves one daughter: Twila K. Black of Columbia, S.C.; four sons: David R. (Bernice) Black of Warren, Ohio, John V. (Nancy) Black and Daniel K. (Sherrie) Black, both of Wheaton, Ill., and Timothy L. (Melinda) Black of Fort Worth, Texas;
One stepdaughter: Mary Ann (Tom) Snow of Grand Rivers, Ky.; three stepsons: Rod (Lyn) Frey of Paris, Ronald (Alicia) Frey of Cottage Grove and Bobby Dyer of Springville;
Three sisters: Virginia Goodell of Mantua, Ohio, Jeanne Cherry of North Fairfield, Ohio and Ruth Haney of Ravenna, Ohio; one brother: Gordon Black of Wellington, Ohio;
Seven grandchildren: Jennifer Black Ortiz, Judy Black Jones, Janelle and Sara Beth Black, Laura O'Day, Kandy Black and Stephanie Nagelkirk; 15 stepgrandchildren: Catherine Simpkins, Emily Collins, Sean, Josh, and Hunter Frey, Mindy Jarnigan, Kayla and Jessica Miles, Kim Dyer Wilson, Mary Lee Evers, Bill and Bob Snow and Bryan, Jay and Jon Dyer; four great-grandchildren; and 20 great-stepgrandchildren.
