DEBBRA (DEBBIE) LEE CORDER was born on January 5, 1953 in Ontario, OR to Donald (Craig) and Virginia Corder. She was an only child and spent the first three years of life with her parents in Ontario. During her childhood, the Corder family moved throughout Oregon and made their home in Eddyville and Sweet Home. Debbie was a junior in high school when they moved to Banks.
On a blind date in January of 1971, Debbie met Tom Maller, and they began dating. She graduated from Banks High School as valedictorian of the class of 1971. She attended Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario and graduated with an LPN degree. Soon after, Tom and Debbie were married on September 30th, 1972. They moved to San Diego while Tom was in the US Navy and Deb worked as a nurse.
In 1975 they moved back to Banks, where they were blessed with a son, Dave. At that point, Deb decided to stop working outside the home and dedicated herself to being a phenomenal mother. Shortly after that, Tom and Deb made their home in Reno, where they were blessed again with a son, Don and a daughter, Terri. In 1982, they moved back to Ontario to be closer to Deb's parents and enjoy the comfort of her family. In 1987, the Maller family came home to Banks, and they have been an involved and integral part of the community every since.
She was very active in her children's lives, always making time for whatever they were part of. As her own children were all in school, in 1988 Debbie found another way to impact children and started working at the Banks School District, where she has been a friendly and positive presence for the last 23 years. In addition to raising her own children, Deb became an honorary ‘mom' to many who walked through the office of BHS.
When each of her children married, Deb easily expanded her full heart to include two daughters in law and a son in law. She became a grandmother in 1999, and has filled all of her grandkids' lives with love since then. Many days and nights would find Tom and Deb at a ball field or watching a school performance to support them, as they had supported their own children.
On May 30, 2010 Debbie was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She fought an amazing battle with inspirational strength and courage, never losing her faith in God or her love for life and family. Debbie passed away peacefully on February 15, 2011, surrounded by her family. She will be forever remembered by her husband of 38 years, Tom, children, Dave and Erica, Don and Misty, Terri and Rob, and grandchildren, Nathyn, Destiny, Brisyn, Jaedyn, Sydney, Jordyn, and one due to arrive in May.
