Michelle Marlene Alexander, 63, Lumpkin, GA, passed away Monday, December 09, 2013. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 beginning at 7:00 P.M. EST, at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA. Interment will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 beginning at 1:00 P.M. EST at Springfield Cemetery Annex in Springfield, GA. Michelle Marlene Alexander was born November 18, 1950 in Savannah, GA, daughter of the late Clarence Barry Alexander, Jr. and Gloria Marie Alexander. Prior to her passing Michelle was the Assistant Director for Historic Westville as well as Director of Interpretation. Prior to Westville, Michelle held several positions over a number of years at the Orange County Historical Museum, in Orlando, FL. Michelle held Bachelor's degrees in Botany and Anthropology from the University of Central Florida, and a Masters in Anthropology from Florida State University. It was Michelle's love for history and Georgia that, thirteen years ago, drew her to Westville, a re-creation of an 1850's town. She loved instilling in others, especially school children the wonders of living in a town before electricity. Michelle was a loving sister and devoted friend to many, always there to lend a helping hand. Her quick wit, sense of humor and positive view of life gave so much joy to those who knew and loved her. No longer bound to this place, her beautiful soul will always be remembered. Michelle is survived by her brother Clarence B. Alexander III of, Orlando, FL. In lieu of flowers, those so desiring can make donations in honor of Michelle to Historic Westville, P.O. Box 1850, Lumpkin, GA, 31815.
