A great Dad and much beloved at his church, Spring Bay Baptist Church, and by his spouse of over 50 years, Velmia Heaton Linville. She survives him, as do their 2 children, a son who lives in Peoria, and a daughter in Austin, TX.
Born in Erwin, TN in 1929, the second of 4 children to Sam and Bertha Ingle Linville, he was in the USMC during the Korean Conflict, where he was discharged with the rank of corporal. Though he always hoped to return to Tennessee when he retired, he spent the final decades of his life in Peoria, IL, retiring a 30 year man from Mossville Catepillar.
Dad was a devoted Cubs and boxing fan, and maintained a lifelong love for bluegrass, the Grand Ole Opry and old school country music (Eddy Arnold,Marty Robbins, Charlie Pride, etc). He was a Slim Whitman enthusiast, proud that he owned 22 hours of looped Slim Whitman recorded tapes that could play ad infinitum. Dad loved to retire to his room and fall asleep listening to his many hours of taped music. He was also an avid reader, enjoying the cowboy novels of Zane Grey amd Louis L'Amour, as well as true crime stories.
