MRS. MARY ANN ALLEN, 82,DIES EARLY TODAY
Mrs. Mary Ann Allen, 82, died at 1 a.m. today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mael Shumate. She had been in failing health for six years and was bedfast for the last three years.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hope chapel with the Rev. Wilbur Holman officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery.
She was born January 31, 1868 in Ray county, the daughter of James P. and Martha Gross. She was a member of the Christian Union church for 44 years and had been a resident of this community all her life.
She was married to Francis Marion Allen who preceded her in death in 1929.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mattie McCorkle and Mrs. Mable Shumate of the home in Homewood addition, Excelsior Springs; one step-daughter, Mrs. Delma Coons, Wiezer, Ida; one sister, Mrs. Cynthia Brady of this city; five brothers, Dave, Judah and Joe Gross of this city, Frank Gross, Crescent Lake, Lawrence Gross, Missouri City; four grand children and four great-grandchildren plus 11 step-grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the home in Homewood addition unitl Friday morning.
