Doris C. Ardelt, of the All Saints Retirement Center in Madison, passed away on Friday July 16, 2010 at Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg at the age of 84.
She was born in Hazelton North Dakota, on September 23, 1925, to Arno and Melinda Capelle and later moved to Plymouth.
She was a graduate of Whitewater University with a major in business, where she met her future husband.
Doris married John R. Ardelt of Whitewater on May 14, 1949.
She was a teacher in the Wisconsin school system teaching all over the State as well as in the Wisconsin prison system. She retired in 1980.
Doris was a wonderful lady that always put the needs of others above her own, guiding and nurturing her four children.
Doris enjoyed playing bridge and euchre, but especially canasta, with her family, which she did right up to her death.
She was deeply faithful, and she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for 45 years, rarely missing services.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Linda (Lynn) Martin, Sun Prairie and Suzanne Ardelt, of Verona; her sons Michael (Georgia) Ardelt, of San Diego, CA., and Mark (Carol) Ardelt, of San Antonio, TX; her brother Elwood (Ruth) Capelle, Phoenix AZ; her sisters, Laverne Hamilton, of Colorado Springs, CO. and Marion Reeder, of Denver CO.
She is further survived be her grandchildren, Brian (June) Owens, Moody AFB, GA., Michelle (Brian) Philbin and Elizabeth (Anthony) Crumrine, of San Diego, CA., and Scott, Justin and Nicholas Ardelt of England;
She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Kaleb Owens, of Valdosta, GA., and Theo Ardelt of England; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Arno and Melinda Capelle, her daughter Karen, and her husband John.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Cress Funeral Home, located at 3610 Speedway Road, in Madison.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday July 21, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 5701 Raymond Road, in Madison.
A Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison.
Memorials in Doris's name may be made to the American Lung Association or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
The Cress Funeral & Cremation Service of Madison assisted the family with their arrangements.
