When a boy, he found himself in the position of being the man of the family at the age of 11. He delivered papers before school and shone shoes after school. On weekends he hunted and fished to put meat on the table. His mother and sisters took in wash. But Dad finished High School and was proud of that fact. His sisters had to leave school in the 8th grade or sooner in order to help at home.
Lawrence had 4 full siblings, Elva Ethel Eastes Babbitt, Virginia Eastes Miiller,Golda May Eastes Love, and Clarence Holman "Pete" Eastes. He also had 3 half brothers from his father's first marriage to Elizabeth Jane Morris. William Harrison Estes , Meredith Frank Eastes, and Walter Alonzo Eastes.
He was a good father to me. I miss him.
