Born on April 6, 1946 at Rogers Hospital in Decatur, Texas, Roland left us on Monday, July 21, 2008 at Medical City Hospital- Dallas. Perhaps best known as the wisecracking frontman and rhythm guitarist of the Chickenhawks, Rolando "Mondo" Bond had a voice that should have been on the radio. He enjoyed his volunteer work reading for the blind. And he never missed an opportunity to entertain with his extraordinary sense of humor. For this gift, his quick smile and his tenderness, he will be sorely missed. Roland is survived by his wife, Pauline; parents, Elaine and Henry Dial; sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Chris Jordan; half siblings, Charles and Zack Bond, Randall Bond, Ginny Bond, Mary Bond, Rachelle and Renee Bond, Reagan and Karen Bond; niece and nephew, Claire and George Jordan; and many other loving family and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 6-8 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 2 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
