James Holman Brodie, 85, entered into rest, March 16, 2008. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer Jeancake Terry and Timothy Lee Terry of Aiken and Gaylon and Larry Kitchings of Kitchings Mill, grandchildren Elizabeth Sullivan, Traci Poole, Paxson Jeancake, and Star Counts, and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was born in Aiken County, the son of the late Ralph W. and Lizzie Mae Holman Brodie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Meta Purvis Brodie and sisters Elizabeth Livingston and Evelyn Couch.
Mr. Brodie was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army in Panama during WWII as a tail gunner. He went on to receive his private pilot's license, and retired from DuPont after more than thirty years of service. He was also a registered land surveyor.
