FROSTBURG — On Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center in Lonaconing, Jane Babb Stallings-Delaney, age 65, went to be with the Lord.
Jane was born in Cumberland, to the late Robert E. Stallings and Mary (Graham) Stallings on Jan. 2, 1947.
Growing up, Jane was the Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls of the Masonic Order. Graduating from Allegany High School and receiving her B.S. Degree in Education from Frostburg State College, she taught at the Penn Avenue School in Cumberland.
Jane's graduate studies were in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Jane was a kind and giving person who was devoted to helping those less fortunate or those who slipped through the cracks. Her devotion led her to found and initiate the development of the community-based program, Neighborhood Friends Care. Jane worked on this project with several members from her church of many years, the Frostburg Presbyterian Church. The vision of the project was an organized effort to enable neighbors to help neighbors in whatever capacity willing volunteers could.
Many saw Jane as inspiring, creative, thoughtful, and forgiving. By some definition, she was a hero. To her sons, she set an example of great character and perseverance.
