Virginia Mae was born on November 7,1940,one of fourteen children to Elizabeth and Samuel Walker.Virginia was educated in Portsmouth,Virginia Public School system graduating from I.C. Norcom High School.Virginia relocated to Philadelphia where she married her late husband Hubert Lee Allen.She instilled her religious beliefs in her childrens.Virginia relocated to Washington,D.C which has been her home for over 25 yr.Although she held different careers,she took joy in serving her community as a Metropolitan Police Department Crossing Guard from the 6th District Precinct.She loved the children that crossed her corner and was always concerned about their welfare and made sure their shoes were tied and coat buttoned.She also worked part time with mentally disabled adults who she loved as well.She was a volunteer at SOME.Everyone who knew Virginian will remember her beautiful smile and her words of wisdom and encouragement.She leaves to cherish her memories her four children:Ingrid Walker -Hall,JoAnn Ross,Bernard Willis and Donna McAlpin;fifteen grandchildren,three great grandchildren,three sister Grace Burton,Mamie Henson,Mary Tucker,and Betty Knight;two brothers Samuel Walker Jr and Daniel Walker;one brother in law,one son in law,one daughter in law,special friends and a host of nieces and nephews and other friends she loved and cared for.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
