Henry Macklin was born in Newbern,Alabama on March 25,1937, the son of LT and Carrie Macklin. Both LT and Carrie preceded him in death. He had a loving sister, Rosetta Carter, who also preceded him in death.

He was twelve when his family migrated to Detroit and received his high school diploma after attending Miller and Cass High Schools. He served his country as a Medical Specialist while in the US Army.

Henry exemplified what it means to possess a strong work ethic and to be dedicated to a chosen career. He achieved successes in his career the hard way, by working his way up through the rank and file. Henry began his career as a welder with Chrysler Defense in 1965 and was a superintendent when Chrysler Defense acquired General Dynamics Land Systems in 1982. His dedication to the job was rewarded with promotions to various high ranking positions including; superintendent, plant manager, and director. Henry was Director of Manufacturing Programs when he retired in 2004. He left his mark at General Dynamics and to this day is considered a company icon.

Henry found Christ at an early age. He later joined Outer Drive Faith Lutheran Church under the pastorage of the late Reverend Theodore Daniel. At Outer Drive Faith he served as an Elder, usher and member of the Board of Finance.

He was joined in matrimony to Virginia Coleman on December 31, 1974. Brandon Macklin was later born to their union. Henry and Virginia's union created a family that includes a son, Tony, and two daughters; Dietta and Tonetta.

Henry loved family gatherings and he really enjoyed the role of patriarch of the family to his children and to his nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew him experienced his gift of gab and his ability to debate any issue. He was an avid reader and loved the game of golf. He enjoyed his work at General Dynamics and life in general.

He departed this life at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital surrounded by his loving family on September 10, 2009.

Henry leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory a loving wife; Virginia, two sons; Tony and Brandon, two daughters; Dietta and Tonetta, three grandsons; Tony Jr., Ramon, and Kyle, three granddaughters; LaToya, Jessica, and Shannon, three brothers-in-law; Lawrence, Cedric (Danielle), and Alex (Felecia), three greatgrandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Henry will be joining his mother, father, and sister in heaven!!
