Agnes was born to Peter joseph and Sophia Harzheim Salentine, in Koln, Westphalia, Rhineland, Prussia. at the age of 3, she and her parents and 2 older sister, Francisca and Mary Magdalena, boarded the R B Sumner and departed Antwerp, Belgium. The ship arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana on 22 July 1852. The family moved up the Mississippi River and settled for a short time in Burlington, Iowa. The the family moved on to La Crosse Wisconsin. It was here she met and married a young man who had just gotten out serving in the Civil War. Walter and Agnes were married on 12 December 1966. By fall of the next year, their only daughter, Kathryn Prudence, was born just after her mother's 18th birthday.
Agnes moved with her husband to the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in 1916. She lived only three months after his death.
