Curtis E. Alberts enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 14, 1941 and reported to Fort Crook, Nebraska. He first participated in the Aleutian Islands Campaign in Alaska against the Japanese and in Northern France against the Germans. He served in the 422 Infantry in the 106th Infantry Division that fought in the Battle of the Bulge from December 16, 1944 to early 1945. Curtis was a Light Weapons NCO and earned the Expert Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal and American Defense Service Ribbon. Staff Sergeant Curtis E. Alberts was Honorably Discharged on October 15, 1945. He was married to a Hazel Marie (b. 1921, d. 1973). The photo is of his sister, Selma Alberts.
