Emmett was my sister's Uncle. We used to call him UE. My sister Joyce honored Uncle Emmett by giving her youngest son Charlie, Emmett as his middle name. I knew Uncle Emmett for a short time, but really liked him. He was kind, interesting and made good conversation. He had a lot of great stories about his travels and working as an expert witness in the Chemisty field.

Emmett M. Harmon of Lombard
Mr. Harmon died Aug. 21, 2001
Emmett was a research and analytical chemist and an alumnus of Roosevelt University and Chicago University. His long career included research at Elgin State Hospital, Oak Park Hospital, two years of work and travel in Thailand, and the establishment of his own laboratory in Glen Ellyn. He continued to work as an expert witness in court cases until the time of his death. He was a very friendly, kind and gentle man, who loved being with family members and friends of all ages. He will be missed dearly, and will remain forever in our hearts.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law and grandchildren, another daughter and son, all of Seattle; nephew, Bryan (Joyce) Allen; great nephews, brother-in-law sister, sister-in-law, and an endless circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; son, Lee; and sister, Nancy Gillogly.
Memorial visitation for Emmett M. Harmon , 74, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Villa Park Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 401 S. Cornell, Villa Park.
A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.
Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois.
