Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company C, 2nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry on December 13, 1861. He was mustered out an an unrecorded date.
He later enlisted in the 18th New York Volunteer Cavalry, being mustered in on December 24, 1864. He served until honorably mustered out on May 6, 1865 at Hart;s Island, New York.
On April 28, 1891 he filed for a US Army Invalid Veteran Pension (Application #1020671, Certificate #753766).
On February 19, 1892 his wife, Mary A. Agnew, filed for a US Army Widow's Pension (Application #541057, Certificate #358858).
