A face like a "movie star" she embodied the spirit of the 1940's when this country was "feeling young again". She was a knockout with a knockout persona. She never gave in to old age, she fought every step of the way to be who she was and love not only herself but those around her.
The former wife of Leroy Vernon Dains(National Cem in Alcorn County) and the mother of Goldie Viola Mcracken, born in El Paseo Tx in 1926.She had a zest for life and enjoyed most every minute of it, she was the sister of Ruby Blakesley and Violet Starnes and Oscar Powers of CA, Hazel E. Starnes buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis Tn, she worked as a cook, busdriver, and rode motorcycles. she was fircracker and was on her way to smoke her morning cigarette when she had a stroke, she is missed she was my great aunt and was a dear friend.
She died at "Corinth Care and Rehab" now "Cornerstone" and had many friends there. The sight of her wheeling around in her wheel chair on her way to smoke is still a vivid memory, in my mind.
" I saw a bluebird today sitting on a window sill, he had a tear in his eye and could not sing, his melody, his heart was just like mine, breaking, because you were not here". RH
