OBIT: EARL ACKER, 72, DIES; RITES HELD HERE MONDAY - Earl Acker, 72, of Rushville, former Buena Vista township road commissioner, died Friday evening at the Culbertson hospital where he had been a patient four days. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at the Worthington Funeral home. The Rev. Forrest W. Cummings of Chicago officiated and burial was in Rushville cemetery. Military services were conducted Sunday evening. Mr. Acker was born Sept. 26, 1895, in Schuyler county, the son of Charles and Dora Orr Acker. He was a veteran of World War I overseas service and he was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Surviving are his widow, the former Mamie Armstrong; three sons, Thomas and Larry of Rushville and Victor of Macomb; six daughters, Mrs. Margaret Spates of Milan, Mrs. Nadine Cummings of Chicago, Mrs. Dorcas New of Taylorville, Mrs. Alice Chipman of Jacksonville, Mrs. Ellen Kraucuski of West Burlington, Iowa and Mrs. Norma Edwards of Rushville; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Luster Acker of Rushville; and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Halbaub of Beardstown and Mrs. Bertha Robinson of Macomb.
