John Lewis Bright Obituary
John Lewis Bright was blessed with good health for the greater part of his long life and for the last few years of his wife's life (Alma Alvina) was able to care for her. He continued to live on his Montevallo, Mo. farm until his health failed then he lived with his son Luther on his farm near Sheldon, Mo. until he died. He passed peacefully away at 8:30 on January 20, 1943 at the age of 94 years, 7 months and 6 days. His funeral was at the Montevallo Baptist Church on January 22nd at 2 p.m. Funeral was conducted by George Beeny and attended by a large crowd of relatives, friends and neighbors. Songs sung by Mrs. Berle Anderson, Mrs. John Owens, Claude Drumond and Mr. Kofendoffer were "Seeking The Lost" and "I'm Going Home". Mrs. Earl May played the piano. Casket bearers were Earl Bright, Howard Bright, Merle Sherbin, Charley Bishop, Lyle Bright and Earnest Bright. The flower girls were granddaughters of the deceased. Burial was held in Virgil Cemetery by the side of his companion of his youth, Alvina, with G.B. Beeny and Sons Funeral Home in charge.
