Donald E Beyrer, age 90, of Connorsville, WI died Wed Dec 25, 2013 at Glenhaven Inc in Glenwood City, WI with Hospice.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved hime.
Donald was born April 28, 1923 on the farm the first of 4 children born to Emil and Anna Johanna (Paulson) Beyrer.
Donald was a member of Grace Luthean Church his entire life. He was baptised and confirmed at the church and until recently attended every Sunday Service. At 88 he was mowing the church and cemetery for a couple of years.
Donald attended the Connorsville Grade School and Downing High School. The onto a short farm course. During his stay in Madison he would ride the train home sometimes with his laundry sent home early for his mother to attend to.
Donald married Christella Martinson April 24, 1949 at the Forset Church by Reverend Gade. They have celebrated 64 years of marriage.
Donald taught ag class in Downing for a short time. In 1940's he hauled gas for Ridgeland Co-op and his later on he also took over his father's business of hauling sawdust from the Harnisch Lumber Mill. All his life he was a successful farmer.
They lived on the farm until 2007 when they moved into Connorsville.
Growing up during the depression wasn't easy. As a child he developed a strong frugal character. Along with that, came a lifetime nickname of KING. The name was given to him by his younger brother, Raymond. Ray said that Donald was bossy and acted like the king and the name stuck with Donald his whole life.
His love for horses formed as a 3 year old, when he would ride his pony in the barn behind the cows. His favorite pony was Lady Lightfoot; from chore time to fun time Donald spent many of hours with her.
One of Don's memories about Lady Lightfoot was that he could load her wagon with milk and drive her to the creamery. He then wouldgo to school and she would return back home without him. Donald rode his horses in many local parades. Both Donald and Christella belonged to the Glen Hills Riders Club and rode horse in the saddle club at the Minnesota State Fair.
When Donald was young his father, took him up the sidehill and showed him a large Pine tree. Emil told Donald that if the limbs were cut it would grow taller and stronger. So Emil climb up and proceeded to cut off the limbs. Donald watched as the tree grew all his life. About 15 years ago, he cut down the tree and had a amish friend build the casket that Donald will rest in.
Donald was a interesting man to listen to, he always had a story or two to tell. He loved going to auctions where he could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He usually talked about things he loved, horses, wagons, buggies and sleighs. He was a very social man. he had many friends ans was well liked and respected. He was trustworthy and reiable. His socialabilty took many places, and he met many people will never forget him.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond, nephew Steven Beyrer , niece Debra Beyrer, brothers in law Orville Kuberski, Frank Wilkin and Ray Harnisch.
Donald is survived by wife Christella Step daughter Pamela Nosko and Donald Grambo all of Connorsville, WI. Sisters Dorothy Harnisch of Bloomer, WI and Betty Wilkin of Texas. Sister in law Elaine Beyrer of Connorsville, WI. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday Dec 30, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Connorsville, WI with reverend Paul Carlson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
