Funeral service for James L. Aldridge, 80, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Oakland Heights Baptist Church Sanctuary with the Rev. Tom Roberson, the Rev. David Lawson and the Rev. Jimmy Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Old Summerfield Cemetery.
Mr. Aldridge died Friday, December 23, 2005, in Fort Worth. Mr. Aldridge was born January 11, 1925, to M.P. and Celestine Daniels Aldridge in Gladewater.
He served in the Navy during World War II and worked for Mobile Oil in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Midland, Texas. Mr. Aldridge retired from Eastman in 1986. He loved hunting, particularly quail hunting. Mr. Aldridge married Lois McKnight on February 10, 1952, in Judson, Texas, and moved back to Longview from Hardin in 1964.
Mr. Aldridge is survived by his wife, Lois Aldridge of Longview; daughter, Melanie Aldridge Collins of Algonquin, Illinois; granddaughter and husband, Kathleen and Aaron Matta of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Heather Collins of Algonquin, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Roger Shalley of Van Vleck, Texas; granddaughter and husband, Sarabeth and Justin Graham of Orlando, Florida; grandsons, Jacob Shalley of Los Colinas, Texas, and Daniel Shalley of Rock Springs, Wyoming; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Robert Weber of Aiken, South Carolina; granddaughter and husband, Kristina and Dusty Overby of Germany; grandson, Steven Weber of Aiken, South Carolina; granddaughter, Laura Weber of Aiken, South Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Debby Aldridge of Salado, Texas; granddaughter, Laura Wiles of Round Rock, Texas; grandson, Brad Ray of Salado, Texas; sister, Katheryn Baughn of Yuma, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, December 26, 2005, at Welch Funeral Home.
