Obediah was the son of John Hardisty and Elizabeth Boarman (though there may be some question about her name) and the husband of Mary "Polly Paris" Hilliard D'Aubelieul Hardisty.
Obediah and Mary were married November 12, 1784 in Virginia.

Note that his first name is spelled Obadiah or Obediah and that his last name is spelled Hardesty or Hardisty.

"Obediah Hardesty, Rev. War soldier buried here according to court records. DAR Roster #3 gives Obediah Hardesty b 1758 VA., died 7-29-1830, buried Turk Cem., Richland Twp., Belmont Co., O. Pvt. 1st Regt. Pa. Line. Pens. act of 1828 in Belmont Co.,O. Served under Capt. J. Finley. Ref: S46362, PA. Archives: DAR magazine Apr. 1953, p 567. Appl for pens. 1828 at St. Clairsville. 59th NSDAR Report.)"

The preceeding biographical information was obtained from a book (titled "Tombstone Inscriptions & Family Records of Belmont Co., Ohio" by Esther Weygandt Powell) that lists graves in the "Turk-Hardesty Family Cemetery". The book was found in the St. Clairsville, Ohio library.

6 ft, 2 in tall. Farmer. He was a Private with the 1st Pennsylvania Regt. in the Revolutionay War and is listed as one of the soldiers at Valley Forge with General Washington; wounded 7 times in 7 battles.

Directions to the cemetery: Go east of St. Clairsville, Ohio on US Highway 40. Turn north on Twp. Rd 436, also known as Rehm Rd., and go approximately 1.1 miles. The cemetery is about 100 yds. off of the road in the trees behind the house at 51000 Rehm Rd.
