Veteran Boston Globe Sports Journalist. Mr. McDonough joined the Boston Globe in 1959. He was best known for covering the NFL. He was also an NFL commentator on NBC's NFL LIVE when the network still carried professional football as well as a tenure with CBS sports. He won the Massachusetts Sportswriter of the Year 5 times. Continued to write a weekly column until the time of his death. Mr. McDonough had suffered from a heart condition in recent years. (bio by: John Sheets)
