Residence Stanly County NC; a 34 year-old Farmer; black eyes, dark hair, 6' 1 1/2". Conscripted, he was enrolled on 8/8/1862 at Camp Hill, Northampton County, NC., where he was mustered into "F" Co. NC 5th Infantry as a Private. He died of disease in Camp Gregg, south of Fredericksburg.
The 5th Infantry Regiment State Troops was organized at Halifax, North Carolina, in July,1861. Its companies were recruited in the counties of Cumberland, Gates, Johnston, Graven, Rowan, Bertie, Wilson, and Caswell.
Burial: Confederate Cemetery Fredericksburg Fredericksburg City Virginia, USA Plot: Section 11, Row 6, Grave 3; originally buried at Santee, Caroline County, Va., a few hundred yards from the house of James P. Corbin.
