Francis Marion McCrory was born near Goshen, Ind., January 5, 1858, the son of John W. and Margaret McCrory. When twelve years of age he moved with his parents to a farm near Plymouth where he grew to manhood.
He taught school for eight years then learned the barber trade which he followed for a number of years.
He served as school trustee for Center township and as councilman for the city of Plymouth. About six years ago he resumed teaching and continued until November of this school term.
On September 28, 1879 he was married to Mary Alice Rightley. To this union were born six children; twin sons who died in infancy; Geneva E. Haney of Belfield, N.D.; Noble N., of Whiting, Ind.; Emmons of this city; and Esther E. Bartmess of Aberdeen, Wash.
He was a member of the Church of God and took an active part in the services.
On Nov. 25 he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he seemed to be recovering. On Tuesday evening, May 12 at 10:30 PM he suffered another stroke and passed away quietly at his home at 214 Pennsylvania Avenue. He was 67 years, 4 months, and 5 days of age. He is survived by his wife, four children, three grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother.
