Dorline was born April 23, 1920 in Glenwood to Theodore and Minnie (Prottengeier) Neumann. Dorline graduated from Villard High School in 1938. She worked in Minneapolis for a time and then married Boyd Backlund on June 18, 1944. Dorline was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd; and brother, Martin "Mike" Neumann.
A memorial service was held September 30 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Rev. Sherry Billberg officiating. Music was provided by Colleen Anderson, Bob and Pat Peterson and Randy Morken.
Inurnment was at Kinkead Cemetery. Honorary urn bearers were Dorline's grandchildren.
