James was the son of Samuel and Ruth (Babb) Mundell.
He married Amelia (Millie) Rogers October 4, 1874.
They were blessed with three sons, Ralph Rogers Mundell, Roland Mundell and Jesse Alma Mundell.
James was a former grain dealer in Minonk, Illinois. He then moved with his wife and one of their sons, Jesse to a 800 acre farm south of Anthony, Harper County, Kansas. Millie preceeded him in death due to the flu epedemic. James then traveled and visited his two sons in Chicago, where he became ill and passed away. They brought his body back to Anthony where Jesse met the train,
and James was buried next to to his beloved wife Millie.

DEATH OF J. B. MUNDELL
The remains of J. B. Mundell were
brought from Chicago yesterday and
buried in Forest Park cemetery. Mr.
Mundell was formerly a resident of
Anthony and owner of considerable
land in the south part of the county.
At the time of his death he was 77
years of age and had been in ill
health for more than a year. His
wife died in Anthony almost seven
years ago, since which time Mr.
Mundell has been a sort of nomad,
living a part of time with his two
sons in Chicago and at other times
at different points in the South. He
has three livings sons, Ralph and
Rollin live in Chicago and Jesse in
Wichita, Kansas. One of the Chicago
sons brought the father here for
burial and was accompanied by the
younger son, Jesse. Reb. Corbin
conducted short services at the
grave yesterday morning.
